Phylloscopus tenellipes
The Pale-legged Leaf Warbler is an Asian leaf warbler recently verified as a British vagrant through DNA analysis of trapped birds on coastal islands. It is virtually identical to several closely related leaf warblers in the field and was formerly entirely overlooked. Its pale pinkish legs, supercilium pattern and specific call notes are the most reliable field marks, though DNA or biometrics are often needed for definitive confirmation.
